Discover L'ogre

L'ogre is one of those hidden gems in Paris that food lovers always seek out but rarely talk about, allowing it to maintain a quiet, unpretentious charm. Nestled in the elegant 16th arrondissement, at Av. de Versailles, 75016 Paris, France, this restaurant offers a dining experience that's both timeless and intimate, perfect for anyone looking to enjoy a hearty meal with a touch of Parisian flair.

From the moment you step inside, it’s clear that L'ogre isn't just a place to eat; it’s an experience that merges exceptional cuisine with a warm, inviting atmosphere. The restaurant exudes a rustic elegance with a modern twist, creating a space that feels sophisticated without being stuffy. It’s the kind of place where you can sit back, relax, and enjoy a meal that feels both elevated and personal.

The menu at L'ogre is a reflection of the heart and soul of French gastronomy. The dishes here are prepared with an artistry that showcases the best local ingredients, focusing on seasonality and quality. Whether you’re diving into the rich, slow-cooked beef bourguignon or savoring a light, refreshing ratatouille, each dish tells a story of tradition while offering something fresh and exciting.

One dish that’s particularly worth mentioning is their signature “roast lamb,” which comes with a perfect balance of tenderness and flavor. It’s clear that the chefs at L'ogre have mastered the art of cooking meat to perfection, which is why this dish keeps patrons coming back. And while the lamb is undoubtedly a highlight, the vegetable sides, such as the roasted carrots and the creamy gratin dauphinois, are equally impressive and complement the main courses wonderfully.

It’s not just the food that makes L'ogre stand out; the service here is exceptional. The staff is attentive without being overbearing, always ready with recommendations but never rushing you through your meal. This thoughtful approach allows guests to enjoy their time without feeling hurried, making it an ideal spot for long, leisurely meals with friends or loved ones.

The wine list is another notable feature of L'ogre. It offers a diverse selection of French wines that perfectly pair with the menu. Whether you’re a connoisseur or a casual drinker, the wine selection at L'ogre will certainly impress. One standout is the Bordeaux blend, which brings out the depth of flavors in the dishes, particularly the rich meats.

For dessert, you can’t leave without trying their “tarte tatin.” This classic French dessert is served with a delicate caramel sauce and perfectly baked apples, providing the ideal sweet end to a fantastic meal. The balance of textures, from the crispy crust to the tender apples, ensures that every bite is as satisfying as the last.

L'ogre’s reputation doesn’t just come from great food and excellent service; it's built on consistency and attention to detail. Time and time again, guests rave about the restaurant’s ability to offer an exceptional dining experience that never feels stale or predictable. It's the kind of place that attracts both locals and tourists, each leaving with a smile and a sense of satisfaction.

For those looking for a special evening out in Paris, L'ogre at Av. de Versailles should definitely be on the list. Whether you're a longtime resident of the city or just visiting, the combination of fine food, exceptional service, and a welcoming ambiance makes it a standout dining destination.

  • We had a very tasty meal, the food quality is very good at reasonable prices, and the wine collection is quite large as well.

  • Had a wonderful experience here! Lively, loud, french bistro atmosphere. I came in late on a wednesday with no reservation and every seat filled but they were able to squeeze me into the service table which I actually loved! (a tad more privacy and front row seat to watch the servers carve steaks. I got the bavette entrecôte. Expensive but delicious! The servers were kind and welcoming and I will definitely by coming back!

  • Come for the steak, stay for the bone marrow. Lovely little restaurant, very good wine list and very friendly staff. Perfectly located if you want to see La Tour sparkle. I don’t smoke but if that’s your thing, they have a cigar room. You can’t as it go wrong here, unless you are vegetarian.

  • The waiters here are classy. Aude took care of us and she was wonderful. The food was tasty. It's a short walk from the Eiffel Tower. The sauce on the beef tartare was excellent, just enough flavors so it doesnt take away from the full taste of the beef. I really wish the wagyu steak had better texture but it was still good. Definitely recommend starting out with the bone marrow. Hope to be back again.

  • A fantastic place, crew and food. . The staff so helpful and unsnobbish, just the common love for good food, wine (or beer). Such a lovley way to spend an evening with your loved ones or friends. They were so kind to find a table for us without a reservation, but please book ahead at least 3 days to be safe. OMG I know I will next time in Paris. Merci beaucoup a votre service.

  • Above all, the staff was so kind. We visited only after looking at Google reviews, and we were a little worried because we were not good at French. However, the staff explained it in English so kindly, and there was no problem with communication at all. And when we ordered meat for 4 people, they explained that we could order it properly so that we wouldn't overpay, and we were very satisfied. We plan to visit often during our stay in Paris.

  • So a couple things. If you are American, don’t order the French beef. Its milder tasting and you probably wouldn’t like it and not seasoned as much. The waiter offered me the Black Angus option but I went with a butcher selected triple cut. The staff is nice, efficient and extremely attentive. The atmosphere is amazing. The one star off is because I ordered for medium and one was well done/burnt and two were rare. I think the pictures says it as much which is which.
